Tuscaloosa hosts thousands of visitors every year so having good restaurants is a must! We had the pleasure of trying these and we think they are the best restaurants in Tuscaloosa!
Thomas Rib Shack: This is not only a local favorite in Tuscaloosa but one that has people leaving the interstate and making a pit stop for their famous ribs and pulled pork. Their home cooked southern favorites will have you coming back for more!

Nicks in the Sticks: one thing is for sure about Nick’s, you better get there early if you want a seat! Those ribeye’s and filets speak for themselves but make sure you get a couple Nicodemus to wash them down!

Rama Jama’s: located mere steps from Bryant-Denny Stadium, this Alabama football grill serves one of the best breakfasts you’ll find in Tuscaloosa. We’ve heard their burgers are pretty good too! You’ll spend as much time eating as you will gazing at the memorabilia that spans generations!

Dreamland BBQ Original: Dreamland BBQ’s reputation precedes them! Opened in 1958 by Big Daddy Bishop, their hickory fired ribs not only have a unique flavor but combined with their sauce, they are hands down the best ribs we have ever eaten, and thousands of people nationwide feel the same way.

Five: we didn’t know what to expect from the restaurant with just 5 items in each of their menu categories but what resulted was one of our favorite meals in Tuscaloosa! You won’t go wrong with any of your choices but make sure the baked pimento and cheese with pepper jelly is your appetizer!

Waysider: This cozy restaurant had us feeling vibes of eating breakfast at grandma’s house! The southern fare was delicious and there is a reason they are famous for their biscuits! Pay attention to the table just as you walk in with the houndstooth hat. Story goes that Coach Bear Bryant had breakfast here every Saturday morning.

Urban Bar and Kitchen: one of the most eclectic and delicious restaurants in Tuscaloosa does a tremendous job of mixing BoHo and Industrial looks while supplying a crazy lunch crowd with a full drink and food menu! No matter what you order, you can rest assured it is going to be fresh and made with love and dedication!
Urban Bar and Kitchen is located at 2321 University Boulevard.
River: Nestled up against the Black Warrior River, this classy southern restaurant serves many of the traditional dishes you are used to finding in Alabama but with a unique and delicious twist! The rustic décor and a wide variety of local beer makes you feel as though you’re sitting on the river at your own camp.
River is located at 1650 Jack Warner Parkway
Heritage House: Started in 1993 as the first coffee house in town, Heritage House has grown and spread throughout the city. With world class coffee, delicious breakfast sweets, and savory options, it does not matter what location you choose to visit, it will be worth the trip!

Black Warrior Brewing Company: Obviously known for their incredible beer, did you know that Black Warrior also serves some of the best appetizers you will ever find in a brewery? The evening we visited, we chose the Buffalo Chicken Salad, and we could have easily made a meal off it. There nothing like it and you will want to take some home for later!
