Campus 805 in Huntsville delivers a little bit of everything and provides a true family-oriented experience that will have you coming back as often as possible!

What if I told you, there was a school campus in Huntsville, Alabama that has been transformed into one of the most unique developments in the southeast? That is exactly what Campus 805 is! Opened as a home to an extension of the University of Alabama in 1949, the school eventually became the UAH. In 1951, S.R. Butler High School moved into the location at Clinton Avenue/Triana Boulevard. They moved in 1967 and in came the brand-new Roy L. Stone Middle School. The school in 2009 and the Huntsville City School District placed the campus up for sale. Even though it took five years to find a buyer, Randy Schrimsher took the property in 2014 with hopes to make it a special venue and boy did he do just that!

We think there are dozens of reasons why this unique venue needs to be on your bucket list, but here’s our top 10!

Straight to Ale: One of the original businesses that occupied space in Campus 805, Straight to Ale is known for their delicious beers with strange names and collectible artwork. In addition to their delicious brews, it is also home to Ale’s Kitchen, where visitors can enjoy gourmet burgers, pizza, and “inventive culinary wonders,” as their website says.

Yellowhammer Brewing: Started in 2010 by four friends who wanted to see good beer come to life in Alabama! In 2015, they moved in the old Stone Middle School at Campus 805 and have continued to grow exponentially. They also host the T-Minus Festival that aims to raise $100,000 so they can send 100 children to Space Camp at the U.S Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville.

Earth and Stone Wood Fired Pizza: Connected to Yellowhammer Brewing, Earth and Stone is so much more than your average pizza spot. With a menu that sports every pizza you can imagine, including gluten free crusts, they also offer a blank canvas, where customers can build whatever pizza or calzone they want. Let us just tell you, there is nothing like a good wood-fired pizza!!

Hops N Guac: One of the most interesting Mexican restaurants we have ever had the pleasure of visiting! The best way to describe this unique culinary experience is fast and casual with flavor inspirations from a variety of locations. Additionally, Hops N Guac also has Alabama’s first snook ball court and self-serve beer, which we have never seen before! This restaurant also can open onto the former sports field in between the two schools at Campus 805 for special events.

The Huntsville Ballroom: Have you ever wanted to learn to dance? If you have ever thought this may be a fun thing to learn, the Huntsville Ballroom at Campus 805 can teach you a variety of dances! If you need to prepare for a ball, wedding, or other special event, get in touch with them and prepare to wow your guests at any social gathering.
