It is no secret that Huntsville, Alabama has some of the coolest sights and sounds in the entire state. But what if I told you, their new boutique hotel, 106 Jefferson might be the coolest new hotel in the southeast? From architecture to history and comfort, here are 6 reasons you need to stay at 106 Jefferson on your next trip to the Rocket City.

Unique: From the moment you walk into the hotel, you are greeted with one of the coolest spaces in the southeast. Two check-in desks greet you in the foyer as three perfect circles, symbolize the impact Huntsville had had on moon travel hang symmetrically behind them. The large foyer offers plenty of seating in plenty of colors and textures, while offering views of the contemporary art. Additionally, a workspace with a computer and printer access is also available on the first floor for those that simply cannot get away from the hustle and bustle of work. Each floor, room, and conference area are uniquely decorated, playing on the space success the US Space and Rocket Center and the strong arts base that Huntsville is also proud of.

Comfort: We have stayed in hotels all over the country and have never felt the comfort that we did as we relaxed in our standard queen room which offered the most incredible Serta Suite Dreams mattresses, down pillows, and a down duvet cover. The 410 square foot room also had a 55-inch HD TV, an oversized comfy chair, and an ottoman. The work desk was perfect for editing photos or writing and the marble bathroom gave us a spa-feeling, complete with a walk-in shower. Our room was just one of five stay options guests have. You can choose from a Standard King, King Corner Suite (614 sq. ft.), a one-bedroom king suite, or the Heritage and Reserve Suites. These suites come in at a whopping 985 square feet and comfortably sleep four guests in this apartment style room. Both bathrooms offer a spa-inspired experience with walk-in showers. You will not find comfort anywhere else that you find at 106 Jefferson. I have personally investigated buying their mattresses and pillows since coming back home.

Food: The Revivalist Restaurant, located on the ground level of the hotel, has all the appearances of an old parlor with all the charm of the south. Offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, early risers might choose anything from pancakes to omelets, to some of the best brewed coffee in the Rocket City. For lunch, customers can choose a heavy or light meal that may range from French Onion Soup, a Revival Rueben sandwich, or even, Steak and Fries. Even though you cannot go wrong for any meal here, dinner may be the sweetest. Start your meal with Saltspring mussels for an appetizer, Truffle Campanelle pasta for the main dish, and of course, Chocolate Marquise for dessert. One thing is for certain, if you leave Revivalist hungry or thirty, it is completely on you!

Bar: The rooftop bar, Baker and Able, played a special role in our success in Huntsville and was a perfect place for business deals or to catch up with old friends. Named for the famous primates that put Huntsville on the map for conquering space travel, the rooftop bar offers classic drinks, small bites, and a view of Rocket City that is simply out of this world. The small bites can range from marinated olives to albondigas and even a pretzel board for two, with cured meat and cheese, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Their choices in cocktails, beer (craft, import, or domestic), and wine (red and white) offers a taste for everyone! Even if you do not want a drink or a small plate, a trip up to Baker and Able is worth the visit.

Location: One of the most special aspects of 106 Jefferson is its centralized location. They are mere footsteps from some of the best restaurants and shopping in all North Alabama! Additionally, Big Spring International Park is just a three-minute walk, and the craft beer and coffee trail starts just feet away as well. If you are into the arts, an 8-minute walk will get you to the Broadway Theatre League and just one more minute will take you to Huntsville Museum of Art. If you love going for a long walk every day, venture out for the 1.6 mile walk to Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment Center. Finally, Twickenham and antebellum homes are just about a 15-minute walk away. There is so much to do in the quaint neighborhood and even more if you grab an Uber or drive yourself around the Rocket City.

Meeting Spaces: We were introduced to 106 Jefferson thanks to the Southern Traveler’s Explore Conference in Huntsville, and we found out firsthand, it is a perfect location to hold all sorts of events, from banquets to conferences and even weddings!! The Century Ballroom is just off the lobby on the first floor and offers 2,110 of flexible event space, a 1600 square foot ballroom that is on the ground floor, adjacent pre-function space, and hands down the best hospitality and service we have ever seen in a hotel. We know that your wedding should be memorable, stressless, and a total dream. Having it at 106 Jefferson, gives you all these options!! You can have a wedding room block for all your friends and family, a suite for the bride and groom, a beautiful location for a rehearsal dinner, a perfectly intimate wedding reception, a daytime rooftop wedding with stunning views and even more beautiful photographs, and even a farewell brunch for the newlyweds and guests.
